OÏO : the cinepainting - The technique
First, paint is filmed as it passes, in flight, through a chosen frame of space, one jet of paint at a time. Then, in post-production, the “shots” can be combined in order to compose a “painting”, which fills the frame for a given period of time.
The principal tools are the catapult, the camera, and the computer. Three tools… three ways to manipulate the material.
Even if the paint is catapulted (liquid paint) using a precise technique, controlling all variables (developed by Simon Goulet), the pictorial dispersions are ultimately drawn by chance when influenced by gravity.
